Description

Week 1: Wings & Wonders: July 21-25 Soar into a week of artistic exploration as we celebrate the marvels of flight! Young artists will discover the fascinating intersection of science and art while studying everything from delicate butterfly wings to dynamic bird movements. Drawing inspiration from both master artists and nature itself, students will create works that capture the beauty and wonder of creatures and human inventions that take to the sky. Throughout the week, children will explore diverse artistic techniques including printmaking, sculpture, scientific illustration, and mixed media. They'll learn from artists like Alexander Calder, who captured movement in his mobiles, and discover how Japanese kite artists transform functional objects into flying works of art. Week 2: Step into a world of wonder where art and magic intertwine! During this spellbinding week, young artists will explore the enchanting works of celebrated fantasy illustrators and visionary painters who bring magical realms to life. Drawing inspiration from master artists who blur the line between reality and imagination, children will discover how to create their own mythical creatures, design mysterious magical spaces, and craft enchanted objects using a variety of mixed media techniques. Through hands-on exploration of various media—including painting, drawing, sculpture, and mixed media—young artists will develop their unique artistic voice while building fundamental art skills. This week celebrates the power of imagination and encourages students to see the magic in their own creative process. Week 3: Aquatic Adventures Dive into an immersive week of ocean-inspired art! Young artists will explore the mysterious and beautiful world beneath the waves through a variety of exciting projects and techniques. Drawing inspiration from master artists who have captured the ocean's magic—from Hokusai's dynamic waves to Chihuly's glass marine forms—students will create their own underwater masterpieces. Throughout the week, children will experiment with diverse artistic methods including sculpture, printmaking, painting, and light art. They'll discover how different artists interpret marine life, from scientific illustration to abstract interpretation. Projects range from illuminated jellyfish sculptures to printed wave patterns, combining traditional techniques with contemporary materials.
